Hints & Tips for the Festive Season 2024
A free space to explore topics related to supporting someone with an eating disorder. Each online session will focus on a specific theme (i.e., supporting adult children, navigating school/college, EDs and other issues) and will take place once monthly from 7-8.30pm online via Zoom.
In this episode, Harriet and Jenny think about preparing for summer holidays. Summer can often be a difficult time for someone living with an eating disorder. The change from a set routine to ‘free time’ stretching out ahead can bring lots of panic and anxiety. This episode thinks through how the New Maudsley carer Skills, and ideas around planning can make this time less difficult.

CAREDS Cork Kerry were thrilled to move into a dedicated premises at Fastnet House, Model Farm road in Cork. The new premises is equipped with clinicial and group rooms, a clinical kitchen and medical room which will enhance the service quality and service user experience
Eating Disorder Awareness Week (EDAW 2022) takes place from February 28 to March 6 2022. There are a variety of events for public and professionals running nationally throughout the week, all with the aim of raising awareness and action around eating disorder care in Ireland. Summer time is here with warmer days and longer evenings. COVID restrictions are gradually being reviewed and lifted which is very welcome but can bring some challenges if you are recovering from an eating disorder.
March 1-7th is Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2021. The theme this year is Binge Eating Disorder or BED.

People attending clinic have been expressing a lot of concern to us about the recent resurgence of COVID19 cases in Ireland, and their worry about the restrictions to keep everyone safe, school, college, work and access to services. Restrictions and uncertainty can make setting recovery goals more challenging during therapy- how can you set social goals when you can’t meet or eat socially?
In the last few weeks, a big topic of conversation in our clinics has been back to school and college. There is a lot of change and uncertainty as schools in particular try to reopen safely.
This month’s feature article is entitled ‘Are you wondering if you have a ‘valid’ eating disorder?’ and is a reflection from someone with personal experience of eating disorders about the dilemma of seeking help.

Today (June 2nd, 2020) is the 4th World Eating Disorder Action day. This is a grassroots movement designed by and for people with eating disorders, their families, and the clinicians who support them. The website is www.worldeatingdisordersday.org and the theme for 2020 is #shareyourstory.
