Can people recover from an eating disorder?

Absolutely!

People can and do recover from their eating disorders.

For many people, especially if treated early, this may happen within a year or two. For others, it may be a number of years before they feel they have fully put it behind them.

A smaller number of people develop more difficult to treat eating disorders, and the focus of their treatment may be managing the symptoms and their health over the longer term.

No matter how long you have had an eating disorder, it is really important that you are offered a trial of recognised effective treatment and that all treatment options are explored.
