A little bit about me

Female. 30 years old. Bulimia for 7 years, orthorexia for 5.


How I started to get help

Personally I did it mostly alone, but I had no idea that there were services  out there to support me. I wanted to break free for years before I actually managed to start. Mindfulness, mindful eating, and intuitive eating were really helpful for me.  Also sorting out my mental health and discovering what brings me joy in life was definitely beneficial.


What recovery is bringing to my life

Thinking about food and my body used to take up most of my time, now it’s close to never. It has also allowed me to join all sorts of social situations I would’ve avoided before.


What I wish I knew back then

There’s never gonna be a right time, it’s not going to be easy, and it’s going to get very uncomfortable before it gets better, however, the longterm benefits by FAR outweigh the costs.


My top tip/ words of advice

Change is really hard to notice as it’s happening, that doesn’t mean it isn’t. Change takes time, and even though it may not feel like you’re making any progress, if you’re putting in the effort then sooner or later you will reap the rewards. Also.. setbacks don’t equate to failure, just keep trying your best!
