What are eating disorders?

Eating Disorders are a group of clinical mental health conditions that involve very serious disturbance in eating behaviours and in how people control their weight as a result of core preoccupations and negative thoughts and feelings about eating, weight or shape.

The main eating disorders are: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and Other specified Feeding and Eating Disorders (OSFED) .

Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is both a feeding and eating disorder without preoccupation with shape or weight.
