Nutrition and Eating Disorders

Of course, eating disorders are not just about food, but because your eating behaviour is disrupted as a result of the eating disorder, part of your treatment programme will involve ensuring that your nutrition and energy intake are restored to a healthy level.

The role of dietitians

It is usually recommended that a registered dietitian is part of your team if you are getting treatment for an eating disorder. They may be supporting you directly, or indirectly through the advice and support they give to the other therapists and doctors on your team who are working with you.
