What are eating disorders?

Eating Disorders are a group of clinical mental health conditions that involve very serious disturbance in eating behaviours and in how people control their weight as a result of core negative thoughts and feelings around eating and body image.

 

The five main types of eating disorder are:

  • Anorexia nervosa

  • Bulimia nervosa

  • Binge eating disorder

  • Avoidant/ restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID)

  • Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED)
